Four years to four and a half years of life you can expect from these screen/storm doors. The hinges wear out extremely fast since it has plastic bushings and really thin aluminum. I wouldn't recommend these screen/storm doors to anyone. Don't buy EMCO products.

I purchased three storm doors, every one came in damaged, and the damage was from the factory as the boxes were not crushed or damaged.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
While my contractor was installing them we noticed damage to each door. I called them and the woman told me the parts would take 21 days! When I read her the serial number and model number she insisted they didn't match the door, obviously someone in the factory put the incorrect serial and model number on the door! when the new parts arrived, they sent the wrong ones. They actually sent a replacement storm window instead of the outside frame which came in bent! Also, they told me the warranty started as of the date of purchase and not the day of the installation! Well I did have to wait for my installer to unpack and inspect them. I also had to pay extra for the installation since it required comeback time to switch out the damaged pieces! I would not recommend these junk doors to anyone, my contractor has been back over and over again as the doors wouldn't close properly, the lock and one of the handles was very hard to unlock, and oh yeah the windows fog up and they have ice on the inside of them when it is cold, it also takes the door longer to close when it is cold. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

We were told that Emco doors were of the same quality of Anderson doors...not true!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought our Emco door at Home DePot because they were out of Anderson . We asked if Emco was of the same quality as Anderson before buying...they told us it was. Not true. When we contaced them about our problems, they said it was a "lower house brand". We were short one screw, had a piece fall off due to a missing pin on the door latch. Our Anderson door was all pre-drilled, this one was not. Emco is made of a cheaper material than our other Anderson door. Very disappointed with the door and Home Depot's service!!!

I PURCHASED 2 400 SERIES STORM DOORS FROM HOME DEPOT AND AFTER 13 MONTHS, (WARRANTY WAS 12 MONTHS) BOTH DOORS HAD THE SAME DEFECT. THE TOP DOOR GLASS CAME CRASHING DOWN INTO THE BOTTOM GLASS. THE DOOR'S MANUFACTURING NUMBERS WERE IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER. WORKING IN MANUFACTURING FOR 30 YEARS, ITS SEEMS LIKE THERE WAS A QUALITY ISSUE DURNING THE DOOR'S SPECIFIC MANUFACTURING DATE. AFTER SEVERAL LONG DISCUSSIONS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY FINALLY DECIDED TO SENT ME REPLACEMENT GLASS BUT EXPECTED ME TO REPLACE THEM MYSELF. AT 65 YRS OLD AND AFTER 5 HOURS OF TRYING AND NO SUCCESS I HAD TO BUY 2 NEW STORM DOORS. I WILL NEVER BUY ANY MAJOR ITEM AGAIN FROM HOME DEPOT AND I RECOMMEND NOT BUYING ANY STORM DOORS MADE BY ANDERSEN EMCO.

Do Not Buy - poor quality

Emco Storm Doors - Do Not Buy - poor quality
Emco 300 series door started bubbling and closer weld failed within 3 years of installation. Door has a 10 year warranty and I had to fight to get closer covered. I should have done more research prior to buying. The bubbling issue with their doors has been happening since 2015. They will not reimburse installation even though replacement is due to their known defect...they continue to sell defective door and customer has to pay the additional expense to have reinstalled.

Resolved: Warranty issues

Updated by user Dec 03, 2020

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product replacement. After speaking with a representative he mailed me the missing part that was needed at no cost to me..

Original review Nov 02, 2020
I contacted Emco/Anderson doors representative and she sent me a email to warranty the new door they that was replaced, unfortunately the door came with no frame in the box and this is why I called. I went to home depot and they emailed the company also. I called emco again and tried to explain this once more and I was instructed to return the door to home depot so I will go this week and talk with them before I load up my return. It's very confusing but it is possible to get this corrected.

Anderson/Emco Storm Door representative contacted me and we spoke for about 10 minutes and after explaining everything he agreed to ship me the hinge side of the frame free of charge although there were no sales receipts left to be found for the original purchase. He was very helpful in resolving this warranty issue and I would like to show that it was a positive experience. Thank You Chris

Emco Storm Doors - Warranty Program
2016 the previous owner of our house put in new Emco Storm Doors. We purchased the house in 2017. So, despite the doors only being 4 years in to their 10 year warranty Emco does not extend the warranty to the new owner. The doors are "bubbling" from the inside and will have to be replaced

Can I give negative stars?!?! The offshore CSRs only read off the scripts on their monitors and are totally lost if they have to deviate. The quality of the phone lines and headsets is dismal at best. You need to paraphrase and repeat everything to ensure confirmation of the conversation. Five phone calls and over two hours of talk time and still no resolution in site.

I bought my storm door on 2/24/2020. In March 2020 The door window slider warped I call they told me I needed a screen kit replacement. Had to pay someone $200.00 to come out and installed it. Now August 2020 more problems with the door. The screen will not work again. Called Customer service they emailed me saying that I can fix the door I asked for the door to be replaced because it has a five-year warranty they refuse to replace the door. Now I have to hire someone to come in and fix the door again it will cost me another $200. This is what they do to disabled veterans and senior citizens.

An Awakening

Sorry, No way to keep this short, approx 25+ yrs ago I bought 3 Emco Forever storm doors. They were made of a composite material with a faux wood grain type of finish, a great looking door. They had the built-in window and hideaway screen, other than a few expected re-screenings they were no problems at all, and they never malfunctioned or failed. The installation was fairly easy, I'd say a 4 on a scale of 10. with 0 being the changing of an ordinary light bulb and 10 being assembling a Saturn V rocket. Which now brings us to today's debacle, based solely on these many years of satisfaction with this name brand product, my wife and I decided to replace an old, weathered storm door at our home ( Not the same home with My 3 older Emco doors) - WOW what a mistake ! - Emco Woodcore Series Door with Mortised (sic) Handle Set and Closer, self storing screen and window- *was a custom order 34" L or R hinge" Wow. again, expected perfection, Hugely disappointed. craftsmanship was mediocre at best, but livable for the money. Here it comes...A Rubik's cube is easier to do with your eyes closed then it is assembling this monstrosity. It comes with 3, Yes, Three separate instruction manuals- the st one does state " blah blah "if your abilities do not match the requirements....contact an experienced contractor" They don't mention the fact that manual #2 requires you to own a 1/2 " and a 3/4" hole saw, Not a fair assumption to make, even for most DIY'ers. The Instructions aren't exactly clear - but doable. I'm not even going to reference the amount of time this took, suffice it to say i'm not only older now, but a lot wiser, I will not be purchasing another Emco door, ever....

purchased emco 3/4 view storm door because of forever doors reputation. Installed in new build attached garage.

The rough opening better be perfectly plumb and stay that way forever? or it will have gaps that weather strip can't block. latch mechanism must be adjusted perfect or door flies in the wind warping hinge or door if single closer used. So plan on constant problems and adjustments of latch side frame and latch.

If you haven't had enough by now, wait awhile. The door construction allows moisture to seep into the clad wood (particle board!!!) The results are the particle board rots and the reaction causes the Aluminum? skin to ulcerate not a pretty sight. This is a you don"t get what you paid for moment.

Oh and the plastic moveable part of handle cracked so only way to keep it closed is with interior deadbolt.

or pay for complete handle latch hardware if still available. Larson/Pella for me from now on.
